Bengaluru, Nov 11, 2014, DHNS
A number of well-known private universities and deemed institutions in the State and outside will henceforth select candidates based on a new entrance test called “Uni-Gauge”. The initiative was launched here on Monday.
Students aspiring to pursue medicine, dental sciences and engineering next academic year will have an option to take the test.
Institutions like M S Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Reva University (both from Bengaluru), Vellore’s VIT University, Mysuru’s JSS University, Kolar’s Sri Devraj Urs University, Faridabad’s Manav Rachna University, and Guntur’s KL University are partner institutions that will select candidates for admission based on Uni-Gauge test scores.
“We are currently in talks to include as many as 30 universities,” said M R Jayaram, Chancellor, M S Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences.
Many of these universities, which had their own entrance tests earlier, will now forfeit them in favour of Uni-Gauge. The initiative has been started by the Era Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation working in the field of education, with Jayaram, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions president Prashant Bhalla and VIT University founder-chancellor G Viswanathan as members of the board of directors.
Members of the board of governors of the foundation include former state chief secretary S V Ranganath and Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore’s former director KRS Murthy.
Uni-Gauge will be held for postgraduate medical and dental seats on February 14, 2015. It will be an all-India online test, conducted in as many as 30 cities. In May, an undergraduate test will be held for medicine, dental sciences and engineering seats in the partner institutions.
Subsequently, the foundation will also conduct tests for other professional courses, such as law, nursing, pharmacy and common assessment programmes such as SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and GRE (graduate record examination).
Details of the admission procedure will be put up on the website www.erafoundationindia.org.View On Website Back
